I am sorry to hear of Gary's passing but I am sure that he is now happy in God's loving embrace. Although I have never had the pleasure to really get to know him, I feel a special bond with him as a fellow priest. He still has the indelible mark of priesthood on his soul that we shall all see again someday in the beauty of heaven.

I first met Gary as a classmate in the St. Paul Seminary. There was a wonderful depth to him there. We reconnected for a time in the 1970's-early '80s when I was pastor of St. Stephen's, Minneapolis. His depth had gone even further with his search for Truth, I marveled, almost as a mystic seeking wholeness within himself and union with the Divine spark deep in himself. It was a wonder.

I remember Gary when I was a as a boy living in Huron, SD and he was an assistant pastor at St. Martin's Church. This must have been between 1956 and 1960. I visited and prayed with him when he was a resident at Golden Living Center in Madison, SD when I was pastor there. I will offer a Mass for his eternal life with God. Fr. Bob
