Alan Craig Greenway was born August 23, 1958, in Mitchell, South Dakota to Thomas and Janice (Miller) Greenway. He attended Beulah Township School #46 until the eighth grade and graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1976. On October 2, 1976, he married Julie Schoenfelder in Mitchell. He farmed at Mount Vernon for many years and was a rural mail carrier. He was a member of the Pork Council, the Mount Vernon Board of Education and Mount Vernon Elevator Board. On November 10, 2010, he received the USPS Hero Award. Alan was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.
He is survived by his wife Julie, three children: Kelly Rus (Craig Engelland), Mount Vernon; Jenni Greenway (John Baysinger), Woonsocket; Chad Greenway (Jennifer) Wayzata, MN, six grandchildren: Reed, Reagan, Cooper, Maddyn, Beckett, Blakely, two brothers, Brad Greenway (Peg), Mitchell; Doug Greenway (Janet), Mitchell; one sister, Lori Standafer (Matt), Burnsville, MN, his parents, Tom and Janice Greenway, Mitchell, his father-in-law, Mike Schoenfelder, Mount Vernon, brothers-in-law, John Schoenfelder (Sandi), Huron; Joe Schoenfelder (Bonita) Mount Vernon; sisters-in-law, Joi Reisinger, Silver Bay, MN, Jacki Petersen (Tim), Mitchell and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry and Grace Miller, William and Elsie Greenway, an infant brother and his mother-in-law, Laska Schoenfelder.
