Marjorie Emma Johnson was born January 18, 1926 at Mitchell to Floyd and Julia (Tanner) Barnhart. She attended school in Mitchell and graduated from Notre Dame College with a teaching degree. She taught school in Humboldt, SD for several years. On June 12, 1950 she married Stanley Johnson. They lived most of their lives on a farm near Mitchell. Marjorie was a substitute teacher. She was very involved with the Presbyterian Church where she directed Children Choir, taught Sunday and Bible School and sang in the Senior Choir. She kept busy helping with 4-H Club, Eastern Star and the Church Ladies Aide and Circle. In 1975 she became a pastor’s wife and assisted Stanley in all the churches he served. She was an avid reader and loved doing puzzles and games.
She is survived by five children: Dale (Liliia) Johnson, Bismarck, ND; Cherie (Ron) Scheich, Mitchell; Leila (Darryl) Johnson, Rapid City; Carmen (Harold) Gosser, Springfield and Debra (Zane) Dobler, Lakewood, CO; fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, baby daughter, Kimberley and brother Kenneth Barnhart.
