Arlene “Nene” Mildred Johnson was born April 17, 1925 at Canova, SD to Peter Joel and Alma (Malm) Johnson. She grew up near Spencer and graduated from Spencer High School. Arlene resided in Mitchell where she was employed by the Armour Creamery, the Mitchell Paint Store, Woelfel Jewelry and Northwestern Public Service, where she worked until retiring in 1987. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and was a lifetime member of the Past President’s of the American Legion Auxiliary 8/40.
She is survived by two sisters: June Zulk and Marcelle (Harold) Wolf, one brother, LeRoy (Grace) Johnson and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters: Mae Johnson, Gladys Johnson, Tillie Theis and Joyce Schuster, four brothers: Don, DeWayne, Dale and DeVere.
