Janet Ann Ramsell born on October 28, 1938 to Arthur and Ethel Ramsell in Huron, SD. Janet graduated from Huron High School in 1956 with awards from the National Honors Society and received her B.S. in home economics from SDSU in 1960.
After graduating from SDSU Janet taught Home Economics at Mitchell Senior High from 1966 to 1967, worked at Farm Credit Services and retired after working 15 years at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Post retirement Jan volunteered her time at Mitchell's Prehistoric Indian Village and Dakota Discovery Museum. Janet was generous with her time serving many civic organizations and church groups.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ray Henderson, brother, Paul Ramsell and sister, Ruth Cernick.
Janet is survived by her husband, Dick Peterson, Don Ditmanson, her sons: Curtis (Dianne), Keith (Dawna), and Matt (Gina) Ditmanson, grandchildren: Ashley Alves, Alisa Ditmanson, Taylor and Chase Ditmanson, Rachael Moan and Nicole Moan Tolk; great-grandchildren: Lenora Tolk and Jamison Baartman; a sister, Betty (Mel) Fueher, step-children: Henderson children (Mark, Lori, Thomas, Jim and Dan) and Peterson children (Barry, Rob and Jill Schaefer).
In lieu of flowers, Jan has requested memorials which will be
directed towards the support of First United Methodist Church.
