Obituary

James L. Meier was born November 4, 1926 in White Lake to Carl and Beulah Blattler Meier.  He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of South Dakota in June 1950 and his Masters Degree at the University Of Denver School Of Social Work in 1954.  He began his career as a social worker in South Dakota, where he became the Tripp County Director of Welfare.  After three years in that position he moved to Denver and was a social worker for the Protective Service for children.  He became a field work instructor for the University and was staff social worker for Jefferson County Schools and the various public schools in Denver.  He was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church at Christ Church, where he served on the congregational care and memorial committees and was a member of the Chancel Choir.  He was a 60 year member of the Denver Teachers Club, the Denver Public Schools Retired Teacher Association and the Board of Directors of the Colorado Education Association.

 

He is survived by one brother, Charles Meier of Stow, OH and many nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Karl, Kermit, Paul, Orlyn, two sisters, Elizabeth Coleman and Lois Meier.
