It was always a pleasure to work with Lorne, whether he was on the Extension board guiding the Davison County Program or later as an Extension. Educator in Marshall county. He was there to do a job and he gave it his all. I am sure he will be missed in the Mitchell church and community. Prayers to Karen and his his family . I am so sorry for your loss.

Without Lorne's friendship and mentoring, I would have had a much lower grade in Mr. Sladek's algebra class at Mitchell High. Musta been our sophomore year.....and he remained a lifetime friend who I always enjoyed seeing again. Bless the memory, and his soul. Thoughts with the family at this time.

I was Lorne's co-worker in Cooperative Extension (Day County) from 1995-2004. Lorne was indeed a mentor and friend. Still remember him driving 'old blue' (the county work vehicle and retired police cruiser) and everybody knew him by that car. He would sharpen the knives at 4-H camp just to help the cooks. He taught me how to arrive early, set up a room, and make "meeting coffee". He loved helping the 4-H kids and understood how to work with the adults as well. He never made me feel like I didn't belong in his group. I appreciated his even temperament, vast knowledge, work ethic, willingness to pitch in and good attitude. He served Marshall and the surrounding counties honorably. I will miss you, old friend!

I had the great pleasure of working with Lorne in Britton, SD when I first joined the SDSU Extension Servic. I was young and knew nothing and Lorne was a great friend and mentor to me during my time there. He had great stories about life on the farm and I still chuckle when I think about them. He will be missed.
