Obituary

John Edward Weiland was born September 6, 1919 in Scotland, SD to Tony and Anna (Hajek) Weiland.  He graduated from Vivian high School and enlisted in the Aviation Engineers in 1941. He spent 3 ½ years in the US Army, serving in Okinawa and the Aleutian Islands.  On September 2, 1944 he married Rosemarie Diedrich at the Airbase Chapel in Spokane, WA. He worked for the Milwaukee Railroad for forty-two years.  After retiring he moved to Mesa, AZ.  He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the VFW and American Legion.

 

He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie Weiland of Mitchell; seven children: Donald Weiland and wife, Mary Ann of Terre Haute, IN, Eugene Weiland of Kalispell, MT, Donna Marie Weiland of Mitchell, Marianne Freng and husband, Steve of Huron, Patricia Weiland of Scottsdale, AZ, Geraldine Adelmann and husband, Terry of Phoenix, AZ, David Weiland and wife, Tracy of Gilbert, AZ; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers: DeWayne Weiland and wife, Margaret of Mitchell and Dick Weiland and wife, Adrienne of Sequim, WA.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two brothers and an infant son.
