Marilyn Mildred Gulberg was born April 17, 1920, at Hudson, SD, to Harley and Lola Marshall. She grew up and attended school at Hudson. On January 14, 1943, she married Lee Gulberg at Mitchell. They lived in Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Baltimore, MD, Omaha, NE, and Kansas City, MO. She was employed at several Veterans Administration Hospitals. She had been a resident of Sioux Falls since 2010.
Marilyn was a long time member of First Lutheran Church in Kansas City and a volunteer Ambassador at the Kansas City International Airport. Also, she was a skilled and avid bridge player and enjoyed tending to her rose bushes. Along with her husband, Lee, she enjoyed numerous ocean cruises over the years. She was a gourmet cook and a warm and welcoming hostess and was an active supporter of the Children’s Care Hospital and School in Sioux Falls for many years.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Bruner of Mitchell and nine nieces and nephews: Sonja Frengel, Gloria Woolum, Vicki Gardner, Rachel Lind, Becky Merritt, Deborah Oberschelp, Britt Bruner, Janice Johnson and Greg Bruner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee in 2008; two sisters, Arloene Marshall, Beverly Harris and her husband Stanley; a sister-in-law, Mildred Gilbertson and her husband Oliver; a brother-in-law, John Bruner; two nieces, Linda Greengard and Mary Lee West and her parents.
