Rita Catherine Kayser was born March 3, 1926 to Arthur and Bertha (Weber) Bowar in Dimock, SD. She attended parochial school in Dimock and graduated from Parkston High School, Parkston, SD. She worked for several years at the Mitchell National Bank in Mitchell before marrying Lawrence P. Kayser of Emery, SD on September 17, 1956. They farmed in the Spencer, SD area until 1977, when they moved into Emery. After the death of her husband, Rita moved to Mitchell in 1996.
Rita was a member of R.S.V.P. and enjoyed different volunteer jobs while living in Mitchell.
She is survived by her son, Mike and wife Maureen of Plymouth, MN, daughter Janet and husband Bill Harrill of Hillsborough, NC, two granddaughters, Catherine and husband Tim McKean, and Ann Kayser, two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Farrell, and four sisters, Adele Boddicker, Parkston, Rosemary Locken, Mitchell, Bertha Schoenfelder, Dimock, Doris Jaton, Mitchell, sisters-in-law, Gert Kayser, Salem, SD, Florence Barfield, Jacksonville, FL, Lois Kayser, Mitchell, Eleanor Kayser, Platte, SD and brothers-in-law, Arden Harvison, Platte, and LeRoy “Pete” (Beverly) Kayser, Mitchell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, her parents, three sisters, Arlene Walters, Betty Heisinger, Barbara Harvison, and brother, Larry Bowar.
