Obituary

     Mildred Geraldine Hendrix was born June 10, 1922 near Fedora to Bill and Ella (Garness) Ischen. She attended country schools by Fedora and Artesian and graduated from Artesian High School in 1941. She attended Comptometer School in St. Paul, MN. She worked for the Great Northern Railroad in St. Paul for four years. On December 16, 1945 she married Robert Hendrix who was on leave from the Navy.  She returned with Robert to Norfolk, VA until his discharge in October of 1947. In January 1949 they purchased their farm north of Artesian.  Mildred worked for the Artesian School District for 12 years, was the Sanborn County Auditor for 13 years and retired in 1983. She was the treasurer of the Sanborn County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans for several years and treasurer of the Mount Pleasant Cemetery Association for 15 years.

     She is survived by her husband, Robert, son, Gary (Patricia) Hendrix, four grandsons: Wiley Hendrix, Cody (Nikki) Hendrix, Kaler, (Lindsey) Hendrix, Weston (Amy) Hendrix, one great-grandson, Colton, four step-grandsons: Randy (Dawn) Sibson, Brian (Laura) Sibson, Kevin (Jessica) Sibson and Patrick Sibson, six great step-grandchildren and three great-great step-grandchildren, two sisters: Donna Uhre and Joyce (Clell) Scott, brother, Bill (Sheryl) Ischen and brother-in-law, Norval Mathis.

     She was preceded in death by her son, Daryl, one sister, Delores Mathis, two brothers-in-law: Marvin Uhre and Ted Grassel and a niece, Jody Forbes.
