Lilburn M. Peters was born March 25, 1924 in White Lake to Frank and Julietta (Mairose) Peters. He grew up and attended school in White Lake, graduating from high school in 1942.  He served two tours of duty in the US Army from 1948 to 1949 and from 1950 to 1951 he was in the Quartermaster Corp in Korea. Lilburn returned to White Lake where he was involved in farming and ranching until failing health required him to move to the Aurora Brule Nursing Home.  On June 10, 1959 he married Mary Bigge at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell. He was a lifetime member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and the VFW and a fifty-five year member of the American Legion. Lilburn loved working with his cattle and would spend as much time possible around his herd.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, one son, Dale and wife, Lori Peters and three grandchildren: Kristi, Kyle and Kory Peters all of White Lake.

He was preceded in death by all of his brothers and sisters: Rebecca Reuland, Ivoe Hansen, Jerome Peters, Eileen Peters, Cyril Peters and Joe Peters, brothers-in-law, Elmer Hansen and Ambrose Reuland and sisters-in-law: Alice Peters, Carol Peters and Judy Peters.
