Marvin Gottlieb Titze was born July 4, 1922, in rural Corsica to Fred and Lydia (Geidel) Titze. He grew up and attended school in Douglas County. He farmed with his father until he started his own farm. On June 18, 1944, he married Opal Nesheim at the Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell. They farmed southwest of Mitchell until 1984, when they retired and moved into Mitchell. He was a longtime member of the Zion Lutheran Church, where he held many offices and was head usher for a number of years. He served on the township, school and elevator boards and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Opal; six children: Larry Titze and wife, Cheryl, Mitchell, Cynthia Delzer and husband, DeWayne of Rapid City, Kathy Otterby and husband, Steve of Mitchell, Kris Theis of Rapid City, Steve Titze and wife, Karen of Bloomington, MN, Roxie DeVries and husband, Dave of Mitchell; thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Carson DeVries, two brothers: Orville and Norbert and his brother, Arnold passed away January 30, 2011.
