Beverly Joyce Hofer was born April 18, 1925 at Freeman, SD to John A. “Lynxer” and Clara (Waltner) Wipf.  She grew up in Freeman and attended schools there, graduating from Freeman High School.  After graduation, she attended Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls, SD for one year.  Beverly worked for her father from 1945-1961 at the Coast To Coast store in Freeman.

On March 19, 1961 Beverly married Harold A. Hofer in Freeman, SD.  They moved to Mitchell in 1961 and owned & operated the Coast To Coast store where they worked side by side until they retired in 1984.

Harold and Beverly welcomed two children, Carolyn and Robert to their home.

She was a charter member of the Mitchell Lioness Club, active in the Wesleyan Church and enjoyed her hobbies of reading and quilting.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn and husband, Otto Sweet, Mt. Vernon, and Robert and wife, Sheila Hofer, Blair, NE; five grandsons: David, Joshua, and Wyatt Sweet and Drew and Garret Hofer; two step-grandchildren, Keaton and Mackenzie Johnsen; a brother, Willis and wife, Joyce Wipf, Freeman, SD; brother-in-law, Ronald and wife, Janet Hofer, St. Clair, MO; sister-in-law, Eileen and husband, Wesley Iverson, Canton, SD and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold, May 25, 1993, brother, Orville and wife, Laurene Wipf and a niece, Marilyn Wipf Brown.
