Ronald Giles Greenway was born March 28, 1950, in Mitchell, to Giles and Lillian (Olson) Greenway. He attended country grade school and graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1968 where he participated in sports and was Homecoming King.

While attending South Dakota State University in Brookings he met and married Mary Lou Smart at McCrory Gardens on September 2, 1974 in Brookings. He owned Ron Greenway Machinery in Mitchell for many years. As an avid sports enthusiast, he participated in baseball, softball, darts, volleyball, golf; and coached womens’ softball. He was also an avid outdoorsman and camper, and a poet and crossword puzzle genius!

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Mary Lou of thirty-five years; two beloved sons, Briar Morgan Greenway of San Diego, CA and Dominic Mickelson of North Webster, IN; three granddaughters; his parents, Giles and Lillian Greenway of Mitchell, his father and mother-in-law, Wally and Donna Smart of Sioux Falls, and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Char Greenway.

Ron will be forever in our hearts, reminding us to laugh; his spirit lives on through those he touched.

 In lieu of flowers a Memorial Fund has been established.
