Obituary

Geneva Winter, 86, of Mitchell died Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Firesteel Health Care Center in Mitchell.  Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday, September 10 at the Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell.  Burial will be at Servicemen’s Memorial Cemetery in Mitchell.  Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Sunday at the Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Geneva Olivia Winter was born November 7, 1931 in Parkston, SD to Edward and Anna (Maas) Winter.  She attended country school in Parkston through the 8th grade. She was united in marriage to Ervin Winter on April 8, 1956 in Parkston.  The couple lived on a farm for 11 years before moving to Mitchell in 1967.  Geneva was a loving wife and mother to her family.  She was a homemaker and later she worked at the Holiday Inn and Syncom.  She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.  Geneva had a large garden and canned the produce for her family.  She enjoyed reading and doing word search puzzles.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Ervin Winter of Mitchell, SD; four sons, Brian Winter, Lakeside CA; Mark (Sandy) Winter, Hartford, SD; Keith Winter, Old Lyme, CT; Kevin (Susie) Winter, Sioux Falls, SD; daughter: Bonnie (Keith) Struble, Mitchell, SD; 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, one sister, Anita Winter, Parkston, SD, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Marcella Werning. Maxine Winter; one brother, Harold Winter; daughter-in-law, Gail Winter; and brother-in-law, Marvin Winter.
