Obituary

Elizabeth “Beth” Paige, 50 of Sioux Falls formerly of Mitchell died Friday, June 30, 2018 at Ava’s Hospice House in Sioux Falls.  Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Monday, July 9, at the Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell.  Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Elizabeth “Beth” was 50 years old when she passed peacefully on Saturday, June 30, 2018, in Sioux Falls, SD. She fought a long, hard battle with cancer. Her strong will to live, her unwavering faith in God and the love and prayers of family, friends and many supporters carried her through many months of chemotherapy until she laid down her sword in victory at the feet of Jesus.

Beth was born on March 18, 1968 in Mitchell, South Dakota to Mary Olson and Harold Hannigan. She was the middle daughter of 5 sisters Debra, Christine, Sandra and Victoria—who are all living in different areas of Beth’s home state of South Dakota. Beth was not only a beautiful sister, but also a daughter, mother, grandmother and beloved aunt to many. A devoted mother, Beth leaves behind her 4 daughters Katherine Moreno (Daniel)25, Natasha Hannigan 25, Jasmine Hannigan 19, Katelyn Hannigan 17, and 1 son Damian Paige 11. She leaves 3 grandsons Meleki Moreno 6, Noah Hannigan 6, and Marcos Moreno 3.

Beth will be remembered for her positive spirit and constant smile. Known for her ease in conversation with even total stranger, some might be surprised to learn of her extreme shyness of her youth. Yet even as a child she possessed a contagious smile. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, so much so that many have been changed by her witness of constant nurturing of love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her smile, laughter and praise will never be forgotten.

Beth was a long time member of The Salvation Army in the Sioux Falls, South Dakota church. She was active in the Women’s Ministries, Community Care Ministries and South Dakota Regional Timbrelist Brigade.

A woman of faith and the heart of her family, Beth shaped their spirituality by her tireless Christian example. Throughout years of sickness and bad days, she would always be heard sharing God’s praises of what He was doing in her life. Beth was the true depiction of devotion. She had faith like Elijah, mimicked Tabitha in her willingness to help others and had the patience of Job when he was afflicted.

Through her faith Beth had a zest for life. She loved to color, play word games, read, pray, play the tambourine, watch crime shows, chat with friends and family and many craft projects. The most favorite of her pastimes was spending quality time with her loved ones. She would be seen frequently sitting with her children and grandchildren. When asked if she were ready to go home, she would say “No, I will hang out just a little longer”.

Beth’s last days were surrounded by family and friends, hanging on just a little bit longer. Beth’s surviving family members are numerous and unfortunately there are too many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews to count.
