Obituary

Jo Barasch, 71, of Mitchell died Friday, May 25, 2018 at Firesteel Health Care Center in Mitchell.  Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Friday, July 13, 2018 at Peace Lutheran Church in Rapid City with a 12:00 PM memorial service. Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.

Jo Alice Barasch was born January 5, 1947 to Robert and Betty (Seesholtz) in Albuquerque, NM. Jo grew up enjoying worldwide travels as her father was a doctor in the US Air Force. She enjoyed working at the Wall Drug Store for many years as a sales associate during the summer months. She would “adopt” several of the college kids that worked at the store and invite them for supper with her family. She would be there if they needed to talk or a shoulder to cry on. A lot of them referred to her as “Mama Jo”.

Jo enjoyed a brief stint of her life in Las Vegas, NV, but she always said the big city life was never for her. She married William “Bill” Barash in Las Vegas. She eventually moved back to the Mitchell area to be closer to her children and grandchildren. When she had free time, she enjoyed reading, word find puzzles, and watching scary movies.

Jo is survived by her daughter, Kari Thompson, Dimock; son, Kevin Eisenbraun, Rapid City; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; son, Nathan Eisenbraun; daughter Pamela Blankenship; and her parents.

Kari and Kevin - I extend my deepest sympathies to you. I remember when we were both pregnant together. I was about to have Dean and we went to the hospital together and walked the halls together. Nobody was sure who was going first. We had so much fun together through the years of our children's lives. Then she moved away and we never got together much. You are in our thoughts and prayers. God be with you all.

Jo was my first friend in Wall. She gave me a card and in the card was a package of bubble bath for my birthday. Was the neatest gift and can remember it like it was yesterday. Such a great friend. Love you Jo Till we meet again my friend.
