Larry Lee Hohn, 69, Mitchell, died Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Saturday, December 9 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm on Friday with a Service of Tribute by the Moose Legion at 7:00 pm at the Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell.

Larry Lee Hohn was born January 17, 1948 in Mitchell to Norman and Irene (Sigmund) Hohn. He grew up near Letcher where he attended Goodwin Country School and graduated from Letcher High School in 1966. He attended SDSU for three and a half years. Larry spent time helping on the family farm and started his Winner Circle Feed business along with selling tools. On March 8, 1990 he joined the Moose Lodge. On December 21, 1996 he married Maribeth Hoek at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, NV. They returned to the Moose Lodge in Mitchell for a fun-filled reception. Larry wanted to contribute his services to the Moose Lodge and became very active in holding positions as membership chairman, Mooseheart and Moosehaven Chairman, Government Relations chairman, Publications chairman, Moose Activity chairman, three year Trustee, Legion Secretary, Governor, Junior Past Governor, Club Manager and Administrator. His fellowship with the members allowed him to become a life-time member after signing up 250 members to the Moose Lodge. On June 2, 2012 he and Maribeth traveled to Mooseheart to receive his Pilgrim Degree, the highest honor you can receive from the Moose Organization. Larry was an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, camping and gardening. The highlight of their marriage was taking a cruise to Alaska and going salmon fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Maribeth, his son, Travis Hohn, step-son, Justin Hoek and four grandchildren: Molly and Mason Hohn and Jazzmyn and Vyncent Hoek.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, infant son, brother, Gerald and sister, Janice Buckley.

Larry was always friendly & kind to me!! I've known him since I was 5yrs old when we would all play together at Navins bar while Uncle Homer & his Dad Norman were having a few adult beverages!!! Those days bonded us as life-time friends!! He also chaperoned my class on Skip day in the Hills!! Hugs & prayers to Travis and Larrys wife!! RIP Larry
