Bill Stransky was born November 23, 1936 to Fred and Goldie (North) Stransky at Fedora, SD.
Bill married Marlys Herron April 5, 1959 at Mitchell, SD. Bill and Marlys had 4 children Susan, Pamela, Cindy, and Scott. Bill was devoted to Marlys and set an example for everyone on how to be a good husband. Scott sadly passed away as an infant, but their daughters grew and blossomed into his pride and joy. Bill was a loving father who raised his girls to be wonderful women.
Bill served in the US Navy in the early 1950’s and was still in touch with the remaining men he had served with. Bill was very handy and most of his life worked in maintenance at the hospital in Huron, SD and then worked as foreman of the State Fairgrounds in Huron for many years. After his tenure there he moved the family to Onida, SD where he worked as head maintenance man for Sutton Rodeos until retiring and moving back to Mitchell in 2003. Keeping busy even in his golden years he worked for the green thumb program in Mitchell and also worked for a local hotel doing maintenance. He always had some kind of do-it-yourself project going and was always willing to help family and friends with projects as well. He was a friendly man who could strike up a conversation with anyone he met.
Bill is survived by his 3 daughters: Susan and husband Omar Durfee, Cindy and husband Lloyd Bunch, and Pamela. Sisters: Evelyn Herron, Vivian Kaul, and Vina Maeschon and brother, Jack Stransky, many nephews, neices, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Marlys and son Scott, brothers and sisters: Albert, Arthur, Maybel, Vera, and Raymond.
