Berneice Agnes (Puetz) Feiner

Berneice Agnes (Puetz) Feiner was born on January 10, 1935 to William and Mary (Grohs) Puetz on the farm west of Ethan. She was the youngest of ten children. She attended country school at Rome 36 for grades 1-8 and then attended high school in Ethan, graduating as Valedictorian in 1953. After high school she attended nurses training at Sacred Heart Nursing School in Yankton and graduated as an RN in 1956. After graduation, she traveled to Seattle, Washington and worked for about a year. She returned to South Dakota and worked at the Parkston Clinic for Dr. McCann. On April 15, 1958 she married Francis Feiner at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ethan. She was diagnosed with MS in 1962. She retired from Dr. McCann’s office in 1964. She continued to work as a bookkeeper for Feiner Trucking, retiring in 1989. She spent her retirement years going to Arizona for the winter. She also enjoyed going to church and uptown for coffee with the ladies. She loved to attend her grandchildren’s ball games and school activities. She spent most of her time at home watching baseball games on TV and petting and scratching Kirby (Doug and Beth’s dog).
She is survived by one son Doug (Beth) Feiner, Mitchell; one daughter, Denise Wessel, Gilbert, AZ; and five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two brothers: Bert, MN, and George, Mitchell, and one sister, Devonia Oster, Mitchell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fran in 2014; son-in-law, Will; three brothers: Harold, Clyde, and Clarence Puetz; three sisters: Genevieve Feterl, Barb Bowar, and Esther Claseman.

Denise, Doug, and families: My thoughts and prayers are with you. Your mom was something special. I had the opportunity to visit with her every month as we went down to have lunch with some friends of ours at Avera Borman Manor. She will be greatly missed, especially for her card playing down there. Our friend, Norb, said yesterday that Bernie was his card partner just last week. God bless you all.

Denise and Doug, so sorry to hear about your Mom. What an amazing woman!! I have so many wonderful memories of her and the many fun times at your house! Will be thinking of you tomorrow and all of the family she has left behind!
