Obituary

Lyle “Skip” Breukelman was born at home on April 14, 1945 on a small farm south of White Lake to parents, Henry and Geneva (Olivier) Breukelman. He attended grade school near Aurora Center and after high school traveled to California with Roy and Thelma Bennett to help run their business.  There he worked for several companies including over ten years at International Harvester. He met Lexie Butterfield in 1973 and they were wed on April 16, 1977.  They moved back to rural South Dakota in 1978 and lived in and around Mt. Vernon until 1987. They then moved to Mitchell where he worked at Toshiba over ten years until retirement.

Skip absolutely loved to hunt and fish, and enjoyed introducing others to the outdoors.  In his spare time he worked on cars, home improvement projects, and enjoyed riding around the lake with his black lab, Bosco, in his jeep.  He was an avid reader and had many self-taught skills including electrical, plumbing, and mechanical expertise.  Skip had a kind heart and was always willing to help out a friend. He was an incredible story teller and loved to share memories with friends and loved ones.

Grateful to have shared in his life was his wife, Lexie, of almost 40 years; daughters:  Lynn Winnie of California, Keri (Rusk) Dahl of Spearfish, SD, and Barb Case of Sidney, NE; and 2 grandchildren; Chase and SeAnna Dahl.  Also surviving him are his seven siblings and their spouses: Larry and Gloria Breukelman, Robert Breukelman, Betty and Craig Moller, Randy and Carol Breukelman, Brenda and Robert Punt, Connie and Greg Bormann, and Colleen and Carl Hauert.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Geneva Breukelman, and a grandson, Vincent Winnie of California.
