MICHAEL HETTINGER, the son of Marvin and Lucille Hettinger grew up on a dairy farm between Stickney and White Lake with eleven brothers and sisters. Mike graduated from Stickney High School, attended Mitchell Vocational Technical School, Dakota Wesleyan University and is a graduate of the Chicago College of Mortuary Science.
While in Chicago, he was employed at Weinstein Brothers Funeral Home. Prior to entering funeral service he was in the automotive business working at Taplins Garage, Western Cheverolet and was a partner of M & R Motors in Mitchell. Mike has been involved full time in funeral service for over 25 years. Mike and his wife Marlene have six children and thirteen grandchildren. He is an active member of the Northridge Baptist Church, the Mitchell Rotary Club and the Exchange Club. He is chairman of the Exchange Club Flag Committee, which is in charge of displaying over 300 flags for holidays and special events in Mitchell.He and his wife, Marlene are members of the Mitchell Trap Club and the South Dakota Trap Shooters Association where Mike serves on the Board of Directors, and the National Trap Shooters Association. They both compete on the State, Regional and National level.
